The classic film Gone with the Wind, or at least the original version of it, has been axed from HBO Max, as have numerous other shows from various networks that feature police officers and other “offensive” content.
In order to appease the Black Lives Matter outrage mob, a growing number of TV shows and movies, many of them classics, will no longer appear on television or streaming services because they feature black people who are servants, for instance, or cops who are depicted – gasp – arresting people.
Such scenarios are just too much to handle for BLM and Antifa, which are busy tearing apart cities, ripping down historical statues, taking over city blocks, and otherwise attempting to recreate the United States into the image they would like to see it be.
Besides Gone with the Wind, Netflix and BBC have both pulled all reruns of the sketch comedy show “Little Britain” due to its repeated depiction of the dreaded “blackface.” Paramount has likewise pulled from its lineup the long-running police reality show “Cops,” which would have gone into its 33rd season.
Amazingly, four cast members from the Bravo reality show “The Vanderpump Rules” have actually been fired, according to reports, because of alleged “racism.”
Hartley Sawyer, who played the Elongated Man on the CW superhero series “The Flash” was also canned for tweets that some people found “offensive.” Sawyer later apologized for his “hurtful and unacceptable” actions, but it is apparently already too late.
The sad reality of all this canceling is that it is inadvertently blotting out the legacies of historical black lives like Hattie McDaniel, a female actress featured in Gone with the Wind who was the first black female to ever win an Oscar.
This apparently does not matter to HBO Max, which told the media that the 1939 film is “a product of its time” and should no longer be shown in its original format because of “ethnic and racial prejudices.” HBO Max insists that these prejudices “were wrong then and are wrong today.”
In case you are unfamiliar with the film, it depicts black slave characters who rather than leave their former owners after slavery is abolished decide to stay with them because of the strong relationships they forged throughout their time in servitude.
It is a historical fact that this type of thing happened more often than the history books give credit for, and yet the liberal mob finds it “wrong” and “offensive” to depict this type of thing to modern-day viewers.
“These people are certifiably nuts,” tweeted Robby Starbuck about HBO Max’s decision to scrap the original version of Gone with the Wind in order to retool it for a modern, “progressive” audience.
“The first Black woman to win an Oscar was Hattie McDaniel for Gone With The Wind,” the Cuban director and producer added. “Now her work is removed from view in the name of being anti racist?”
In the view of HBO Max, it is “irresponsible” to continue broadcasting Gone with the Wind without “an explanation and a denouncement” of its “racist depictions.” Even if some former black slaves did, in fact, stay with their former slaveholders, showing this is no longer okay unless it comes with a “discussion of its historical context.”
“Audible has yet to comment on whether it will commence digital book burnings by removing ‘controversial’ titles, but don’t be surprised to see titles start disappearing soon,” warns Zero Hedge about the next wave of leftist censorship that is soon to come.
